- Never liked Alan Kay. My brother worked with him a little bit and the anecdotes from him about Kay built up my impression of him. I've watched numerous talks of his and I've never enjoyed one of them - they don't even stick in my mind. He was there a Parc and I think it is mostly right-place-right-time syndrome. Stick another smart person in the same situation and they would've succeeded as well. He's also super pompous and arrogant and surprisingly inarticulate.
- How many nano-dijkstras of arrogance?
- It is super-annoying to work with someone who is super-pompous and arrogant.
At times I attempted to share “wisdom” with the super-pompous and arrogant, which has ended poorly each time, devolving into a bitter war where I lose my patience, and then self-isolate.
These people are almost unavoidable, though. Maybe one day we’ll be able to just work with others whenever we want to, but until then, good luck.
- Good talk. He is obviously nervous and feeling insecure, but the message is good.
