how else you gonna filter people? by seducing them to be some version of their ugliest. the less you know about them and their contextual decisions after short to long term priming, the harder it is to seduce people.
if you can't resist. poof. or what are we trying to do with AI and long before that, with children? seduce, then hard-code limitations.
it's a long timeline and people were interested in social control and ran experiments ever since the first cities were founded, probably even before that. those genes and narratives survived and thrived and now bugs eat our forests and we vote the ugliest characters into main offices while being the gayest kind of proud to turn the entire surface of the planet into a battle zone.
