It is telling of the times we live that I was at first relieved to hear that soon, 30 percent of the continental United States would have be evacuated, giving humanity something worthwhile to do for a while and restoring perhaps a shred of humility and humanity to our deeply ill culture.

But, alas, everything is fine.
