• > Sealos is an AI-native Cloud Operating System built on Kubernetes

I am once again asking for a moratorium on calling something an "operating system" unless it is an actual operating system

it runs on k8s. k8s runs on Linux. Linux is the operating system.

I get that it's tempting to call yourself an "operating system" as a way of signalling "we have big ambitions, bigger than a library, bigger than a framework, bigger than a platform..."

but...just stop. it's annoying and misleading. your GitHub repo is 60% TypeScript. you built a fancy GUI frontend to k8s.

  • Who's the target market for this?

Feels like some company who has zero trust in its developers, would roll out these. And that's your env.

I'm a bit out of the loop so I'm not sure this might already be a thing on AWS.

  • This is all my personal hells in one place.
  • 3/10 needs more crypto
  • Very overcast in here (double 'Cloud' in title)
  • It looks interesting but the development seems to crease. Last release 2025 and the issues are stalling. No good signs.
    • Last rc is 2025 but there are at least still new commits (one from 3 hours ago)
    • Maybe they could let some Github bots keep doing the development. /s
  • so good it mentions "cloud" twice!

    cloud²?
