- Why use FHRS as the source rather than OSM? OSM isn't perfect either but for my area at least it seems a lot more comprehensive.
- Hmm, this dataset is pretty poor. There are at least 3 pubs near me that are missing.

- OK, I think this will be close to an all time record: Leopoldsburg (Belgium, 14k inhabitants) had more than 150 pubs in the 1980s.
- I make that 933:1? Portsmouth (Navy/dockyard town) had 115:1 in the 1860s. (822 pubs and beerhouses against a population of 95k). There was a row of five pubs right outside the dockyard gate.
I see Leopoldsburg had a large military camp nearby. Same story?
- You're off by a factor of 10: 14k/150 is ~93 residents per pub.

- Really surprising that Inverness and Skye have only 16 pubs considering how much tourism the area has. I felt like it wasn't lacking for pubs but maybe I saw all 16...
- A good third of the pubs are missing in my town tbh and they're definitely still open.

So nice interface and all but some data curation will be needed - perhaps on a crowd sourced basis? Click and add comment &c.
- I thought about doing something similar pre-Covid. There are commercial datasets that are more complete (Local Data Company was the one I targeted when I was researching), but... well... £000's a quarter.
The project would have had to cover its costs, so the idea went to the great backlog in the sky.

- Yeah I'm dogsitting at my childhood home right now and it's missing the rural pubs on the dog route.
- I was in Inverness a few weeks ago, seems like the tourist season is on, and it was fairly hard to find a pub other than downtown. The other interesting thing is that a lot of them don't seem to not go by the advertised opening times, which later on made total sense based on what an old man told me about the Highlands having their own time.
- There were about as many golf courses as pubs when I went through there - but that was a while back.
